Samsung appears to be preparing its long-rumored smart ring for release - and it may even be joined by a pair of AR specs.

That's if a recently uncovered trademark filing is anything to go by, at least, with the company appearing to register for both the "Galaxy Ring" and "Galaxy Glasses" names.

It was only back in October that the last Samsung smart ring rumor emerged - one that related to a patent of a device packed with smart sensors.

> Samsung Galaxy Ring – the key rumors revealed

This new Galaxy Ring trademark classification - granted by KIPRIS, the Korean Intellectual Property Right Information Service - describes it as a "smart device for measuring health indicators and/or sleep in the form of a ring," which would certainly add up.

No other details are really available in the application for the Galaxy Ring moniker, though, as we say, it may not be the only new wearable form factor Samsung will debut in 2023.

Could Galaxy Glasses also be arriving?

Alongside the Galaxy Ring filing was also one for the Galaxy Glasses, and, after the company teased its XR platform on 1 February at its Unpacked event, it's possible this project might be further along than rumors would suggest.

Unlike Apple's potential mixed reality headset, which has been the subject of frequent informational leaks, we've not heard much about any potential Galaxy Glasses over the last couple of years.

The description in the KIPRIS application shows that the Galaxy Glasses are tagged under "headset for virtual reality experience," "headset for augmented reality experience," " smart glasses", "smart phone" and "headphone," which, of course, doesn't really give us much other than what we'd already be able to guess from the name.

Either way, these applications appear to be solid proof that both form factors are on Samsung's mind - even if it were a cynical play to prevent anybody else from using them.

Could we see either -  or perhaps even both - arrive in 2023? Based on leaks we've seen so far, we'd be surprised if either popped up later this year, but it's likely we'll know more as get closer to the reveal of the Galaxy Watch 6 in August. If either does pop up, it's likely to be then.
