The Huawei Watch GT 4 may be able to pair with Android phones, but getting it to do so is by no means as straightforward as setting up with an iPhone.

This is due to the Huawei Health companion app no longer being available through the Google Play Store, which means you have to download it through Huawei's own AppGallery instead.

The steps and process aren't immediately obvious, which is why we've outlined them below in this simple user guide.

1. Find and download the Huawei AppGallery

From your browser on your smartphone, start the process by going to Huawei's AppGallery download page.

From here, install the app, accept the various permissions attached, and then wait for it to appear in your Android device's app dock.

2. Download and open Huawei Health

Things begin getting slightly layered here.

Once you've downloaded the AppGallery app to your list, you'll need to open it up and search for 'Huawei Health' within it.

Download the Huawei Health app from the AppGallery to your Android device and then find it on your app dock, as illustrated above.

3. Add Huawei Watch GT 4 in Huawei Health

Once you've opened up the app and allowed various permissions, it's time to pair your Huawei Watch GT 4.

Go to 'Devices' on the bottom row of tabs and tap 'Add device' to begin the process.

4. Follow the pairing steps to complete

Ensure your Huawei Watch GT 4 is nearby and ready to be paired.

The Huawei Health app on your Android phone will begin scanning once you follow the previous step, at which point your device should appear in the list within around 30 seconds.

Select 'Link' once it does, accept the Bluetooth pairing request on your phone, and confirm the same on your watch once the pop-up appears.

Congratulations, your Huawei Watch GT 4 is now set up with an Android phone.
